Orthopedic surgeon Emmanuel Masmejean, who works at Paris’ Georges Pompidou public hospital, was reportedly selling the X-ray in NFT form without the patient’s consent on OpenSea, writes the Mediapart website. The digitized X-ray shows a Kalashnikov bullet lodged in the forearm of one of the people shot during the Paris attacks in November 2015, when attackers killed 130 people, including 90 in the Bataclan theater. The NFT was on sale for 2,446 Euros (around $2,768) but has now been removed....

When that happens, you can typically find the information with a simple command on Windows or macOS. Open the command prompt (Start > Run > ‘cmd’) and then enter ipconfig. The address you need should be next to Default Gateway under your Local Area Connection, and it will often begin with 192.168. On a Mac, the information is easily found under network options, or using the Terminal, use the command netstat -nr | grep default....

Following a two-year investigation, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) opened a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard in the summer of 2021 over claims it fostered a “frat boy” culture where harassment and discrimination ran rampant. It resulted in the company’s president and several designers leaving the firm, and Activision games such as Call of Duty and Overwatch losing sponsorships amid the bad publicity. The revelations led to another lawsuit being launched against Activision Blizzard, this one by a group of investors who claimed that between August 4, 2016, and July 27, 2021, “purchasers of the securities of Activision Blizzard” were misled as the company never revealed the ongoing investigations into its workplace culture....

Cyber Monday was the biggest single-day for retailers with revenue of $11.3 billion. Black Friday brought in another $9.12 billion and Thanksgiving Day added $5.3 billion to the total. Cyber Week – the period between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday – drove $35.2 billion in spending (up four percent YoY). Spending was strong throughout the holiday period. Adobe noted 38 days in which daily spending surpassed $3 billion, which was on par with 2021 levels....

At idle the AMD A4-5000 consumed just 9 watts. In comparison, the Intel Celeron 1020M consumed 78% more power and the Pentium 2117U 100% more power. With the CPUs under full load the A4-5000 system consumed 17 watts, which was 61% less than the Celeron and 64% less than the Pentium systems. Placing 100% load on both the CPU and GPU saw the A4-5000 system consumption rise to 23 watts, where the Celeron 1020M system used 58 watts and the Pentium 2117U 60 watts....

The CPU side of things looks to have been greatly improved. The 65W A8-7600 managed a multi-threaded score of 3.38pts and while that’s 5% behind the A10-6800K (which was using faster memory), it’s worth noting that the A8-7600 is also clocked 14% lower, 20% without Turbo frequency. The first synthetic GPU test indicated that efficiency has also been improved, though overall performance is still similar to the A10-6800K. However, while the GPU on the older A10-6800K operates at 844MHz the A8-7600’s R7 GPU is clocked 15% lower....

The Radeon HD 6950 performed as expected when testing with S.T.A.L.K.E.R., it was again 10% slower than the HD 6970 but this is good news. Against the rest of the pack, the HD 6950 was 35% faster than the GeForce GTX 470, 55% faster than the HD 6870 and 59% faster than the HD 5870.

This 8% overclock lead to a 7.6% increase in performance when testing with Call of Duty: Black Ops, 7.8% in Crysis Warhead and 7% when testing Battlefield Bad Company 2. Given more time and some better third party software we are keen to see exactly how far the Radeon HD 6970 will go.

The two HD 7770s were just 2% faster than the GTX 560 Ti in Hard Reset while being 24% faster than the HD 6870. The Crossfired 7750s couldn’t surpass either card, ranking 7% lower than the HD 6870 and 24% behind the GTX 560 Ti. The HD 7770’s frame rate increased 93% in Crossfire, squeezing 89fps out of Just Cause 2 at 1920x1200 – a smooth 53% lead on the HD 6870 and 51% on the GTX 560 Ti....

The HD 7770 didn’t meet our expectations in Just Cause 2, offering only 3% more performance than the HD 6790 at 1680x1050. It edged ahead of the HD 6770 by 11% and topped the GTX 550 Ti by 17%, but fell 9% short of the GTX 560. The HD 7750 fared no better with 55fps, 10% slower than the HD 6770 and 5% slower than the GTX 550 Ti.

The R9 285 was good for 43.6fps at 1920x1200 when testing with Sleeping Dogs, making it just 2% faster than the GTX 760. Moreover it was only able to match the performance of the R9 280 while being 15% slower than the R9 280X. The R9 285 couldn’t quite average 40fps at 1920x1200 when playing Battlefield 4, yet it was 11% faster than the GTX 760. Compared to the R9 280 that it is replacing, the R9 285 was 2% slower and 15% slower than the R9 280X....

The R9 290X rendered 67.9fps at 2560x1600 in Battlefield 3, a 31% lead on the HD 7970 GHz Edition yet 29% and 21% behind the HD 7990 and 7950 Boost in Crossfire. Similarly, it fell behind a pair of GTX 660 Ti cards, though the R9 290X held its own against the GTX Titan and outperformed the GTX 780 by 6%. The R9 290X took 24.5ms between frames at 2560x1600 in Battlefield 3, surprisingly 3% slower than the 7970 GHz Edition, 29% slower than the GTX Titan and 25% slower than the GTX 780....

We see another close battle when testing with Assassin’s Creed Unity where the R9 Fury X was just 2% faster than the GTX 980 Ti at 1600p though it did extend the margin to 9% at 4K. We have abandoned testing Dragon Age: Inquisition with its built-in benchmark as we found it considerably more demanding than the actual gameplay and for some reason favored Nvidia cards much more so than the actual gameplay....

The performance in Rise of the Tomb Raider using the high quality settings with SMAA is surprisingly good. Though the RX 460 averaged 39fps and improved on the R7 370’s performance by 11%, it was 3fps slower than the GTX 950. The RX 460 averaged 35fps in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt making it 1fps faster than the GTX 950 and 3fps faster than the R7 370. Ideally gamers will want to reduce the quality settings slightly to boost the frame rate....

There was the whole power draw controversy that AMD initially denied before backpedaling and coming up with a prompt fix – good on them. Thankfully, those issues seem to be behind us, but even so they appear to have set the RX 480 a bit off course. Although it could be unrelated, more than a month has passed since launch and availability on the new Radeon is still poor with almost no board partner cards....

Overclocking did little for the 2600X while the 2700X enjoyed a decent performance uplift – nothing extreme, but it did overtake the overclocked 7700K and 8600K processors. Moving on to Assassin’s Creed Origins, we have a few noteworthy things to discuss here. Firstly, we are GPU-bound. Even with the GTX 1080 Ti at 1080p – the ultra quality settings are very demanding. Still, the Kaby Lake and Coffee Lake CPUs beat the Ryzen 7 1800X with ease and sadly the second-gen Ryzen CPUs aren’t much faster than the 1800X....

AMD’s next-generation Ryzen 7000 series processors are expected to break cover later this year, marking the end of the AM4 era with a new socket and updated heatspreader design, among other things. Not much is known about the performance of these upcoming CPUs, but the company has already started hyping them up for PC enthusiasts. Earlier this month, AMD Memory Enabling Manager Joseph Tao hinted that memory may play an important role on the “Raphael” platform, so early adopters have something to look forward to in terms of pushing the limits of their systems....

This week, Apple released major updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. The latest updates — iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, macOS 13.1, and watchOS 9.2 — introduce new collaboration, entertainment, and security features. One new feature is Freeform. It works as a sort of cloud-synched digital whiteboard that teams can access from their Macs, iPhones, and iPads. Multiple users can annotate the whiteboard with various brushes or drop files onto it for their teammates to see....

On the home screen, for example, you can firmly press the Mail icon to open up a list of shortcuts to create a new message, search your saved e-mails and see how many unread messages you have. A similar press on the Camera app presents shortcuts to take a photo, record a slow-motion video, record a standard video or capture a selfie while the Messages app offers shortcuts to your most recent conversations or the option to start a new one....
