The Pentium G3220 also held steady at 97% utilization, though processors such as the Intel Core i5-3470 dropped off to 55%. As usual the Core i5 and Core i7 chips delivered similar performance as the latter’s Hyper-Threading went mostly unused by Evolve. The heavily-clocked FX-9590 averaged 81fps (11% slower than the Core i5-4690K) and the AMD FX range averaged between 72fps and 81fps while the Core i3-4130 averaged 77fps....

The GTX 670 was 11% slower than its beefier sibling, but it outpaced the HD 7950 and 7970 by 34% and 16% margin....

The Gainward GTX 770 Phantom was 5% faster than the standard GTX 770 in Battlefield 3 at 2560x1600 rendering 54.1fps. This meant that it was just 4% faster than the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition but 12% faster than the GeForce GTX 680. The overclocked Gainward GTX 770 Phantom was also 17% slower than the GTX 780 which averaged a more impressive 64.8fps. The frame time performance saw the Gainward GTX 770 Phantom produce similar margins when compared to the competition....

In my last review I chastised Sony for not optimizing the Xperia Z Ultra’s software for the large screen, but the Nexus 7 is an entirely different ball-game. For starters, the OS itself is running in a tablet-specific mode, designed for devices of this screen size, complete with an optimized lockscreen, app drawer, notification pane and homescreens. Each of the apps also runs in a tablet mode, meaning more information is displayed on the screen compared to the smartphone versions....

Many factories in China’s Sichuan province have paused operations from Monday to Saturday in order to relieve some of the strain put on the power grid by the ongoing heatwave in the country. Sichuan is a major manufacturing hub and one of China’s largest provinces with a population of 84 million people. China is currently going through the strongest heatwave in the past six decades, with many cities seeing temperatures rise over 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit)....

When testing with Metro Redux, the R9 390X averaged 43fps at 1600p or 10% faster than the R9 390 and R9 290X. That said, the R9 390X was still 14% slower than the GTX 980. The R9 390 on the other hand was 9% slower than the GTX 970, though it was 5% faster than the R9 290, matching the R9 290X. The R9 380 met the R9 285 at 45fps while being 2% slower than the R9 280X and 12% slower than the GTX 960....

At idle, the HIS R9 290X Hybrid IceQ configuration consumed a few watts more than normal, perhaps due to the water pump. The HIS R9 290X Hybrid IceQ allowed for a system consumption of 353 watts without overclock, which was 14% more than a standard R9 290X. That makes sense as we saw roughly 14% more performance. Compared to the GTX 980, the R9 290X Hybrid IceQ consumed almost 30% more power when testing with BioShock Infinite....
