As expected, idle consumption figures remain much the same, working within one watt of the R9 280 and R9 280X.
Here we see no improvement in power consumption compared to R9 280X. Granted, we are using a slightly overclocked R9 285, but the results are still surprising.
Again the R9 285 consumed roughly the same amount of power as the R9 280X, this time when playing Metro: Last Light.
Finally we see that despite being 20% slower in Tomb Raider the R9 285 still consumed roughly the same amount of power as the R9 280X.
Given that the Sapphire Dual-X version of the R9 285 that we have emphasizes solid cooling, it’s no surprise to see relatively low temperatures with the card never even hitting 80 degrees.
