Despite Intel’s press deck suggesting the Core i7-6950X is intended for high-end gaming, it’s overkill here. When testing with Ashes of the Singularity, the 6950X offers little to nothing over the significantly cheaper 6700K.

Here we see the 6950X is inferior to the 6700K when testing with Overwatch, a game that can heavily utilize 8 threads.

The 6950X isn’t being utilized when testing with Grand Theft Auto V either. Offering the same performance as the 5960X, the 6950X was once again inferior to the much cheaper 6700K.
