The Windows 7 boot time test starts when the OS loading screen appears and ends when the Windows desktop is fully loaded. The HyperX 3K loaded Windows 7 in a blistering 9.4 seconds, 37% faster than the SSDNow V+200 and second only to Intel’s 520 Series.
For the application load test, we launch the following applications on Windows’ startup: Internet Explorer, Outlook 2007, Access 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Publisher 2007, Word 2007 and Photoshop CS4. The test runs from when the Windows 7 startup sound plays to the time the final application is loaded. The HyperX 3K took just 4.9 seconds to complete the task, which is roughly the same as the 520 Series, while the SSDNow V+200 was marginally slower at 5.2 seconds.
When launching a single application, in this case Adobe Photoshop CS4, the HyperX 3K is as fast as any SSD we have tested taking only 1.2 seconds. The SSDNow V+200 provided similar performance at 1.3 seconds.
StarCraft II’s “All In” level took 10.1 seconds to load on the HyperX 3K, which was 88% faster than the SSDNow V+200.
