Metro was must tighter in the high-end sector but again the new GTX 980 swept aside the competition with 54.5fps at 2560x1600, making it 8% faster than the Radeon R9 290X and 11% faster than the GeForce GTX 780 Ti. Although the GTX 980 was 13% faster than the GTX 970, the cheaper Maxwell part still cleaned up beating the Radeon R9 290 by a 7% margin.
In Tomb Raider, the GeForce GTX 780 Ti already had the edge over AMD’s R9 290X competition, but the GeForce GTX 980 amplifies that margin. With 63.1fps it was 29% faster than the R9 290X. The GeForce GTX 970 also performed well, matching the old Titan and outperforming all Radeons in our test.
