According to analyst Gus Richard, AMD’s desktop and laptop CPU revenue will decline by 6 percent year-over-year in 2023, while consumer GPU sales will be down by 7 percent. In total, this market segment will net the company about $675 million less than this 2022. Friendly reminder, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S are all powered by AMD SoCs. Richard estimates that the company’s game console revenue will only rise by $400 million, or about 8 percent YoY....

Check Point security researchers said the six apps had been downloaded over 15,000 times before Google removed them from its store following the cybersecurity firm’s disclosure. While users thought they were downloading mobile antivirus apps, they were actually installing the Sharkbot Android stealer, ironically. Sharkbot works by convincing victims to enter their credentials in windows that mimic input forms, often when it detects banking apps are opened. It can also steal information by keylogging, intercepting SMS messages, and gaining full remote access....

Crysis Warhead results were very poor across the board and at all three tested resolutions. The Radeon HD 5830 was able to match the Radeon HD 4890 and GeForce GTX 275 in terms of performance, while it was just 2fps slower than the GeForce GTX 285 and Radeon HD 5850 at 2560x1600.

Going off the UK site, adding front seat heating to what is already a very expensive vehicle will cost the equivalent of $18 per month....

The Budget Box is limited to a memory bandwidth of almost 16GB/s using the A8-7650K and DDR3-2133 combo while the Entry-Level Rig was good for 23GB/s with its Intel Core i3-4330 processor and DDR3-2133 memory. Both the Enthusiast’s PC and Luxury System managed 30GB/s while the Extreme Machine was considerably faster reaching 52GB/s.

Activision says Call of Duty: Black Ops is the highest-grossing entertainment launch ever, knocking off even Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters such as Avatar. That said, I’ve spent quite a few hours playing Modern Warfare II already, and we have found it enjoyable for the most part, despite many crashes. Admittedly, when playing the multiplayer portion of the game solo it’s been nearly flawless, I mean stability has been much better, my gameplay not so much… Unfortunately, when teaming up with friends the party mode causes issues with members often crashing out in the menu or sometimes even in-game, so there’s a lot of work that needs to be done when it comes to stability, which is a shame given it’s not free to play....

Corsair is joining Seagate, Snap, Twitter, and many others in blaming “macroeconomic headwinds” for its disappointing quarterly results. Andy Paul, Chief Executive Officer of Corsair, said the first half of the year had been a challenging time for the company. Corsair’s excellent PC-based product range is extensive: memory modules, PC cases, SSDs, coolers, peripherals, and more. Paul notes that consumers are reigning in their spending on gaming gear as worries about the economy intensify....

The Core i5 750 was designed for the Intel LGA1156 platform that was introduced as a cheaper alternative to the LGA1366 socket used exclusively by the more expensive Core i7 series. The Core i5 750 received Intel’s Turbo Boost technology, while Hyper Threading was disabled. This is not a processor previous Intel owners can upgrade to by just plugging a new chip. Those coming from older LGA775 platforms will be required to purchase a new motherboard and likely some DDR3 memory as well....

On average, the Agility 4 was 60% faster than the v4 in our file transfer operations. This was backed by PCMark 7’s benchmarks, which also revealed a 60% gap favoring OCZ’s unit. Crucial’s v4 had its best showing in our real-world application testing, but even then it lingered behind the Agility 4 by a disconcerting 30%. Evidently the v4’s SATA 3Gb/s limitation and its controller hinder the drive’s speed, but this is intended....

Ramping up to high quality, the GTX 680 landed square on the 60fps mark when testing at 1680x1050, while the GTX 670 followed with 55fps and the HD 7970 GHz edition was forced into the 4xfps territory with the GTX 660 Ti. It seems like the non-Ti GTX 660 or the HD 7950 are about as low as you’ll want to go, as both were near the 40fps mark with the Nvidia card on top by 3fps....
