The $700 Ryzen 9 7950X is an impressive 16-core, 32-thread CPU which arrived alongside an expensive platform, namely overpriced AMD X670 motherboards and premium DDR5 memory. As a result we did mention in our review to hold out on that upgrade until we’d had a chance to go over Intel’s upcoming 13th-gen series, and here we are. Intel hasn’t been making many bold claims about their new 13th-gen flagship part, though they have mentioned that clock speeds have climbed 600 MHz to 5....

We find a similar story when testing with Blender though the AMD CPUs did perform better in this application and as a result the 2950X was able to work a bit harder, but even so it still consume less power than the 9900K. That’s enough power consumption data for the moment, let’s check out overclocking performance. Overclocking these 8-core parts to 5.1 GHz wasn’t easy, it required 1.375v and a massive liquid cooler, you aren’t hitting this frequency with a 240mm closed loop cooler, 5 GHz is probably off the table as well, but we will talk about thermal performance soon....

By now we know the 600p really struggles with sustained write performance but PCMark’s tests don’t push the drive hard enough to expose this weakness. That said, they might do a better job of showing a general usage scenario. Here the 600p matched the Kingston Predator. The video editing test placed the 600p alongside the 750 series along with the SSD 850 Evo series. The 600p will provide strong performance when launching applications as this is predominately a read operation....

Although not as prominent a household name as it was a decade ago, Iomega still produces multiple consumer products covering a wide range of storage and networking needs. Today we’ll be taking a look at the eGo 1TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive, one of the latest additions to Iomega’s portable storage line. The eGo arrived in a small black cardboard box with a photo of the drive on the front and not much more on the reverse....

Keith Hartsfield, chief product officer at iRobot, said that up to this point, many 2-in-1s delivered a poor user experience either because they required separate, time-consuming cleaning jobs or created more mess by not lifting the mopping pad high enough to avoid carpet and rugs. iRobot’s solution is capable of vacuuming and mopping in a single cleaning job thanks to a retractable mop that lifts high to keep carpets dry....

As reported by PC Gamer, claims that Kojima was responsible for the shooting originated on 4chan’s /pol/ politically incorrect board after a user posted an image suggesting the Metal Gear Solid creator was the perpetrator. Another user then posted pictures of Kojima wearing a Russian fur hat, standing next to a photo of Che Guevara, and one of him holding a Guevara bag and wearing a Joker T-Shirt. That might have been the end of it, but French comedian Georges Jordito tweeted the images as part of a satirical post....

First, a little background. Since IBM Thinkpads first debuted in the early 90s, the series has been synonymous with business. For the past decade however, Lenovo has been the brand’s steward. For today’s review, we went out and bought what many people consider the best OLED screen for gaming and the most suitable candidate for usage as a PC monitor: the LG C1 OLED. This is LG’s latest OLED TV series designed primarily for content consumption and brilliant HDR, but in the smallest 48-inch option - the one we bought for testing today - it may also be usable as a monitor, that’s something we’ll have to figure out....

Overall, LG has used a flat, pastel and modern style that integrates well with the stock Android experience, but differs enough to give the G3 its own feel. I really like what LG has done with the software design, completely ditching the childish and amateurish looks of the past in favour of a more professional, pleasing style. In fact the design of the G3’s skin is good enough to become one of my favourites, still behind the consistently beautiful stock Android, but up there with the One M8’s Sense 6....

Like most of Intel’s 8th-gen Kaby Lake Refresh line, the 8250U features four cores and eight threads constrained to, typically, a 15W TDP. While manufacturers can choose a different TDP configuration, the Gram 13 sits at the default 15W. These four cores have a base clock of 1.6 GHz and a boost of 3.4 GHz no matter the core usage. This in contrast to the 8550U that features a slightly higher 1....

The V30 is in a similar position. Occupying the flagship large-screen phone position in LG’s line-up, the V30 is packed with interesting features, top-end hardware and enough good stuff to match this year’s competitors. But it’s once again up against some massive new devices, particularly the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Google Pixel 2 XL, leaving LG with an uphill battle to ensure the V30 remains in the conversation....

G510 Gaming Keyboard impressions The G510 keyboard replaces rev 2 of the G15 which caught some flak from fans of the original that felt it wasn’t as good as the one it replaced. I want to preface this by saying I have been using the original G15 keyboard on my main system for over four years. Is it a perfect keyboard? No, of course not, but it’s a nice gaming board with a great feature set that has withstood years of daily abuse with the only noticeable issue being that the blue key backlight has started to die over the past year or so....

It’s important to mention that the six-core CPU in our Shift is overclocked to 4.33 GHz from the stock speed of 3.33 GHz. The Kingston memory is operating at 1,734 MHz at 9-9-9-24. According to EVGA’s Precision program, each graphics card is running at 810 / 1,620 / 1,850 MHz on the Core, Shader and Memory clocks, respectively. Below we’ve included some reference benchmark results from the several tests we ran on the Shift to give you an idea of how its processor, graphics cards, memory, and hard drive perform under load....

Today we will be looking at the notebook equivalent of the above mentioned Shift desktop system, known as the Titan 17. Considered a desktop replacement by Maingear, the Titan 17 is their most powerful notebook to date. With measurements of 16.5" (w) x 11.3" (d) x 2.2-2.4" (h) and a weight of 12.1 pounds, the Titan 17 isn’t a system you want to haul around on a regular basis like you would an ultraportable or netbook....

Metro 2033 Redux shows the biggest visual changes as it has been rebuilt using the latest 4A Engine, bringing all the graphical and gameplay improvements from Last Light to 2033. The gameplay experience is also said to have been revamped with advanced enemy AI, better combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling and responsiveness, intuitive controls, plus signature features from Last Light such as the ‘mask wipe’ mechanic, weapon customization, and silent kills and takedowns....

VideoCardz noticed Micron’s update. It confirms the 21 Gbps GDDR6X modules set to appear in the high-end Ada Lovelace RTX 4000 series, most likely the RTX 4070, 4080, and 4090 cards and their Ti variants. There’s also mention of 24 Gbps GDDR6X. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of such video memory packing these speeds; it was included in specs last month for an alleged Ada Lovelace flagship. That particular card is supposedly based on a new PG139-SKU0 board design rather than the PG137 expected to be utilized by the RTX 4090 and could be the first to feature a triple-fan reference cooler from Nvidia....

This week, Microsoft outlined changes to how Microsoft 365 and a few other apps perform updates. The feature referred to as “update under lock” can apply patches almost seamlessly, even while the computer is locked or an app is running. So users do not have to interrupt work or be sure their computer is on and unlocked for software updates. The new method leverages Microsoft’s “Click-To-Run” technology to deliver updates without notifications or abrupt interruptions to workflow....

NASA will spend the next several months waiting for Webb to cool down. During this period, engineers will also begin the process of aligning the telescopes optics to “nearly nanometer precision.” It was a long and winding road to get to this point. The successor to the Hubble Space Telescope started taking shape in the mid-1990s but was plagued by cost overruns and delays. “Webb, welcome home!” said NASA administrator Bill Nelson....
