Despite that early intrigue, with a current retail price of $180, the 7350K is a mighty expensive dual-core processor and for $20 more you can land the quad-core Core i5-7400 (confusingly, both cost the same amount in Australia and other regions). Given their similar prices, quite a few of you have asked which is the better buy between the Core i3-7350K and Core i5-7400. The advantage of the slightly pricier Core i5-7400 is that it has four cores and larger L3 cache while its disadvantage is that it’s locked at a base clock frequency of 3GHz with a maximum single core operating frequency of 3....

The i5-11400H is a Tiger Lake H45 processor, so it comes with all the architectural upgrades we’ve talked about before: 10nm SuperFin process, Tiger Lake architecture with improvements to cache sizes, clock speeds, and efficiency, plus new features like support for PCIe 4.0. It also comes with an integrated Xe GPU, though the GPU has been cut down significantly compared to top end Tiger Lake models. Unlike the Core i7 and Core i9 models which pack 8 cores, the Core i5-11400H uses a cut down version with 6 cores and 12 threads, along with 12 MB of L3 cache....

In Premiere Pro CC the Core i5-8400 did exceptionally well, beating not just the Ryzen 5 1500X but also the R5 1600 by a convincing margin. Here we can see that the only CPU to deliver better value is the Ryzen 7 1700. For those seeking maximum bang for their buck while achieving fast encode times, the R7 1700 is the best CPU to get. However, if you don’t have $300 to spend on the just the processor then the Core i5-8400 presents a great value....

Also missing from the menu is Asrock’s Super Alloy feature, meaning a premium alloy choke and NexFET MOSFET are off the table. That being the case, you would expect the Z97M Anniversary to be even cheaper, though right now we cannot confirm if it is or not, as it is yet to become available. Still, what the Z97M Anniversary has plenty of is graphic outputs, as it includes VGA, DVI and HDMI, whereas the Z97 Anniversary only features a HDMI output....

Underwhelming performance, problems with DirectX11, and the need to enable Resizable Bar have been some of the issues reviewers have encountered with the only Arc desktop card released so far, the Arc 3 A380. Buggy drivers have proved to be the worst element, with Intel engineers spotting 43 issues alone just by watching a review of the card by Gamers Nexus. Then there’s the more powerful Arc A7 series that’s supposedly as good as (and cheaper than) the RTX 3060, according to Intel, anyway....

Intel will kick things off at CES 2023, with the company intending to hold a keynote on January 3 to reveal its entire mobile Raptor Lake lineup. Raptor Lake-H and -HX series CPUs will purportedly launch on the same day, meaning that we should also see the first notebooks equipped with them at the show. According to the leaker, the lower-TDP series should launch later on, with Raptor Lake-P scheduled for January 29 and Raptor Lake-U coming out in the first half of March....

It had been expected that the Z87 chipset would see the Haswell range out, but this June delivered a Haswell refresh and along with some rebadged CPUs we got the new 9-series chipset and a successor to the Z87. Codenamed ‘Wildcat Point’, the new Z97 was virtually identical to its predecessor with a few exceptions. The most noteworthy change was support for future Broadwell CPUs, which should arrive during the coming holiday shopping period....

From 1987 through 2016, the Street Fighter games’ logo has used a combination of the name and roman numerals in black, yellow, orange, and red colors. The style has changed slightly over the years, but it’s remained instantly recognizable and reassuringly familiar. However, with Street Fighter 6’s logo, Capcom’s deviation from the previous entries is as jarring as a dragon punch from Ryu himself. It appears that Capcom was aiming for a look that’s very modern and different, something companies have been known to do when going for the ‘all-new’ approach....

Ivy Bridge’s system power consumption is impressive. The Core i7-3770K consumed 11% less power than the i7-2600K in spite of carrying a faster clock speed and performing overall better. The idle consumption results remained much the same, as the Core i7-3770K configuration used 75 watts at idle compared to the 76 watts of the i7-2600K. Looking at previous generation chips, you see the downward pattern against the 98 watts of the Core i7-3820 and 100 watts of the FX-8150....

This is quite different to the game tests featured in our CPU reviews where we test with high and ultra quality presets in modern and often very demanding titles such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Battlefield V and Red Dead Redemption 2, to name just a few. And although in these tests we use a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics card and test at 1080p as well as 1440p, in many instances performance is still more limited by the GPU....

Toshiba Satellite L655-S5161 A second-generation Core i3 processor gives the Satellite L655 strong overall performance, decent graphics, and good battery life for a relatively low price. This 15-inch system is a good entry point for midsize laptops and can be found for just under $700, making it a worthwhile budget choice....

Dynamic Super Resolution is Nvidia’s method for letting users easily downsample games. It renders a game at a higher resolution, then shrinks it back down to the native resolution of your monitor. This results in extremely effective anti-aliasing but only performs well if a GPU has the extra horsepower to run at that higher resolution. It’s a good way to make older games with outdated anti-aliasing technology look cleaner. Deep Learning Dynamic Super Resolution (DLDSR) uses RTX graphics cards’ Tensor cores to make this process more efficient....

Qualcomm lifted the lid off its latest SoC for Windows laptops in December. The company says the new chipset, built on the 5nm process, offers up to 80% faster CPU performance and up to 60 percent faster GPU performance when compared to its predecessor. It also boasts a 40% boost in single-threaded workloads and an 85% increase in multi-threaded workloads compared to the 8cx Gen 2 SoC. The ThinkPad X13s features a 9W TDP, a 13....

The Snapdragon 810 features an eight-core CPU made up of a quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 cluster clocked at 1.96 GHz and a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 1.56 GHz. There’s also an Adreno 430 GPU clocked at 600 MHz, and a dual-channel 32-bit LPDDR4-1600 memory controller providing 25.6 GB/s of bandwidth. As the SoC uses ARMv8 CPU cores, it’s fully 64-bit compliant. There’s also support for LTE Category 9 in the Snapdragon 810, which supports connections of 450 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps up....

The LG G3 shipped with Android 4.4, though it was quickly updated to Android 5.0 when Google released their updated operating system later in the year. The G4’s software is pretty similar to the G3 running Android 5.0, so many of the features will be familiar to those currently using a G3. A significant number of the G4’s software features were also introduced in the G3’s version of Android 4....

Traditionally, Qualcomm has partnered with either TSMC or Samsung Foundry for its chip manufacturing needs. However, it turns out the latter is experiencing yield issues on its cutting-edge production lines that are preventing it from meeting expected order volumes. According to a report by Korean publication The Elec, Qualcomm has decided to switch back to TSMC for the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Mobile Platform. The chipset will be manufactured on a 3nm process node and is expected to power next year’s flagship phones....
