The sequential read performance of Samsung’s SSD 850 Evo M.2 and mSATA were as good as any SATA SSD that we have tested with a throughput of just over 500MB/s, similar performance to the SanDisk Extreme Pro. Note that the Plextor M6e is able to exceed 700MB/s as it uses a PCI Express controller.
The sequential write performance was also strong as the SSD 850 Evo M.2 and mSATA matched the SanDisk Extreme Pro.
When it came to random 512K performance, the SSD 850 Evo M.2 and mSATA were only a fraction faster than the original 2.5" 850 Evo model with a throughput of 463MB/s, though they were still among the fastest SSDs we have tested.
The SSD 850 Evo M.2 and mSATA’s random 512K write performance was virtually identical to that of the previous model, which is a shame as the performance is below average here.
The random 4K-QD32 performance of the SSD 850 Evo has been improved by 41% over Samsung’s previous model when measuring read performance. The 850 Evo was also 21% faster than the Crucial MX100.
Here we see that the random 4K-QD32 write performance has also been improved substantially, jumping 72% from 199MB/s on the 840 Evo to a more impressive 342MB/s.
